Morristown National Historical Park was the site of the 1779-80 winter encampment of the Continental Army under General George Washington during the American Revolution. The site proved to be a strategic location, that helped supply the Continental Army with provisions during the coldest winter in New Jersey to date. Additionally, it was the first national park to be registered by the National Park Service in 1932.
