Scans of bibliographic information, Mt. Vernon Musical Union minutes, and signed materials in a book used at the Mt. Vernon Musical Union and probably later at Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music in Dayton, Va. McIntosh R M (Rigdon M.), 1836 – 1889. Tabor: Or, the Richmond Collection of Sacred Music, Designed for the Various Religious Societies of the Southern and South-Western States. New York: F. J. Huntington and Co., 1867. Third edition.

This copy of The Tabor shows scans of the front and back pages of the book which contain the signatures of Professor J.K. Ruebush and Hall as well as the formation of the class minutes written inside of it. The signatures found in this book are an example of how people in singing schools would write their names and places and dates in the books which they used to sing with. Singing schools used both round note and shape-note tune books. R.M. McIntosh wrote his books in round note format, not shape-notes, however some of his music was published in The Musical Million magazine in shape-note form. This copy is Courtesy of Bridgewater College Special Collections. A complete scan of another copy of this book is available online through hathitrust.org at https://hdl.handle.net/2027/nc01.ark:/13960/t69320c3d.
