That the said overseer of the poor in pursuance to an order of the court of the county aforesaid of December term of 1815 doth put and bind Lydia McHenry nine years old the fourth day of November last as an apprentice to the said Jacob Rife Jr. with him after the manner of an apprentice to dwell and serve until she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years to learn the art and mystery of housewifery. In consideration of which the said Rife binds himself to the said Brenner or his successor overseer of the poor to teach or instruct or cause to be taught or instructed the said Lydia McHenry the business of housewifery that is to say he is to teach her or cause her to be taught spinning, knitting, sewing, and also to learn her to read correctly and write a good fair hand during said term. And moreover to furnish said Lydia in good sufficient cloathing, meat, drink, washing and lodging fit and convenient for such an apprentice.
