That the said overseer of the poor in pursuance to an order of the court of the county aforesaid of December term of 1815 doth put and bind Lydia McHenry nine years old the fourth day of November last as an apprentice to the said Jacob Rife Jr. with him after the manner of an apprentice to dwell and serve until she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years to learn the art and mystery of housewifery. In consideration of which the said Rife binds himself to the said Brenner or his successor overseer of the poor to teach or instruct or cause to be taught or instructed the said Lydia McHenry the business of housewifery that is to say he is to teach her or cause her to be taught spinning, knitting, sewing, and also to learn her to read correctly and write a good fair hand during said term. And moreover to furnish said Lydia in good sufficient cloathing, meat, drink, washing and lodging fit and convenient for such an apprentice. And also at the end of her service shall pay and satisfy to the said Lydia McHenry twenty dollars for freedom dues as the law directs. That the said overseer of the poor in pursuance to an order of the court of the county aforesaid held at the June term of one thousand eight hundred and seventeen doth put and bind Lydia (a girl of colour four years old the fifth day of October one thousand eight hundred and sixteen to George Kline as an apprentice to the said George Kline with him after the manner of an apprentice to dwell and serve until she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years to learn the art trade and mystery of housewifery. That is to say he is to teach the said Lydia or cause her to be taught cooking, spinning, knitting, and sewing, during the said term.
