of Rockingham and now attending said Court at its August term,
1928, upon their oaths do present that H. E. Sandridge, on or
about M.11,y 14, 1928, in said county of Rockingham, did unlawfully
operate an automobile while under the influence of ardent spirits,
against the peace and dignity of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The first series of the Prohibition Records collection consists of all criminal case records associated with cases brought to the <strong>Rockingham County Circuit Court</strong> from 1916-1964. Not every individual was indicted for a criminal offense and many were simply judged as misdemeanors. It will be noted th at he is not found guilty as charged in th e
warrant but simply found guilty as charged.
We submit that
this is not sufficien t.
In conclusio n we would say that while we understan d
that a warrant is informal , and that the strict rules which
apply to an indictmen t do not prevail to the effect of the
construct ion of a warrant, yet a warrant is a pleading upon
which the accused is deprived of his property or his liberty
or both and there are certa in fundame ntal rules which must
be observed.

of Rockingham and now attending said court at its December term,
1931, upon their oaths do present that Harrison Sillman, on or
a bout November 16, 1931, in said county, did uniliawfully operate
