The first series of the Prohibition Records collection consists of all criminal case records associated with cases brought to the <strong>Rockingham County Circuit Court</strong> from 1916-1964. The grand jurors i n and f or the body of said county of
Rockingham and now attending said Court at i ts Oct ober term , 1 926 ,
upon the ir oaths do present that John Carr , within one year next
prior to the finding of this indictment , in said county of Rockingham, did unlawfully manufacture, sell , offer , keep , store and expose
for sale, give away , transport, dispense , solicit , advertise and re ceive orders for ardent spirits, a gainst the pe a ce and dignity of
the Commonwealth of Virginia .
