About this Exhibit

This collection of stereographs was handed down to me from my grandparents, both of whom have always held an interest in photography and were rather prolific photographers when they were younger. In this exhibit I am exploring some 61 stereographs from various publishers, series, and mediums and delving into some of the common themes that they hold such as travel and photographic narratives.            

There are many different collections of stereographs by both private and public institutions such as the Smithsonian but where my exhibit deviates from these is that I am presenting connected stereographs together as a whole instead of individually. This will, I hope, allow the viewer to understand some of the broader themes and styles of stereography that were so popular in the 19^th and 20^th centuries.
